Building Community Support for PreservationMichael Bodaken, President, National Housing Trust The first step in resolving our neighborhood and housing dilemmas is holding on to what we have already built. Mr. Bodaken will share best practices of how the National Housing Trust has helped tenant and nonprofit groups save existing affordable housing. V. Land Trust PresentationColin Bloch, Director of Home Ownership, Burlington Community Land Trust Mr. Bloch and Mr. Hamilton will give a presentation on the Land Trust Model and how it works; including the benefits this model has for building equity, providing long term affordable housing, and preserving affordable housing in communities. He will also address the benefits and concerns of a local government and nonprofit partnership and give insight into how other governments have structured successful partnerships. VI. Affordable Housing Trust FundPeggy Sand, President, Washington Area Housing Trust Fund Ms. Sand will describe the Washington Area Housing Trust Fund, how it is operated, and what elements make the Trust Fund successful. Ms. Sand will speak about the program's strengths and weaknesses while highlighting specific concerns local governments should consider when creating a trust fund. VII. Question and Answer SessionThis is the perfect opportunity to open the session up to the council members, nonprofits and advocates in the community for questions and answers. VIII.
