Affordable Housing Outreach CampaignThe Washington Area Housing Partnership's outreach campaign consists of a series of workshops or housing briefings conducted throughout the metropolitan Washington region to promote affordable housing best practices. The outreach and education campaign is an extension of the recently published Toolkit for Affordable Housing Development. These workshops are an opportunity for local governments to learn more about specific “tools” of interest as they work towards addressing the high cost of living in their communities. The Partnership is primarily organizing these workshops or briefings to be held during City Council or County Board Worksessions. The content for each event is carefully designed with the guidance of elected officials, housing directors, planning directors, and community groups to best meet the needs of each local jurisdiction. The workshops typically consist of housing specialists or technical experts presenting a specific affordable housing "tools" of interest, followed by an open discussion where participants have the opportunity to share concerns and expectations regarding the "tool" presented.
